Baskets

Baskets are a strong part of Nantucket’s past from when the Lightship Basket was originally woven on board boats patrolling the harbor in order to provide light to passing ships (ie: lightships).   Beyond the famous Lightship Basket, which is now used primarily as a handbag, most Nantucket homes contain a variety of baskets for decorative and practical use.
